What makes a Funko Pop valuable?
Most Funko Pops retail between £10 and £20. A rare few have sold for six figures. Understanding why starts with these five factors.
- Production run size. The smaller the print run, the higher the ceiling. Figures limited to 10 or 12 units are almost impossible to source legitimately, which forces prices into the tens of thousands on the secondary market.
- Convention provenance. SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con) and Funko Fundays exclusives carry a premium that retailer exclusives simply cannot match. Ownership of a confirmed SDCC piece is verifiable and rare.
- Character demand. A limited run tied to a dormant franchise will hold less value than the same run tied to a Marvel or DC character with constant media coverage. Demand keeps the floor high.
- Box condition. PSA grading judges the box first. A figure graded PSA 9 or 10 can fetch multiples of the price of the same piece in a worn or dented box. Collectors treat the packaging as part of the asset.
- Special variants. Glow-in-the-dark, metallic, chase and bloody variants command a significant premium over their standard counterpart. The Clockwork Orange Glow edition sold for over £47,000 more than its non-glow version.

San Diego Comic-Con. Funko releases convention-exclusive figures here annually. The lowest print runs are distributed via Funko Fundays events at SDCC.
Does condition matter?
Massively. PSA grading assesses box condition on a 1 to 10 scale. A PSA 9 or 10 grade can double or triple resale value versus an ungraded piece.
What does vaulted mean?
Funko retires figures permanently. Once vaulted, no more are produced. Vaulted status typically triggers a price rise as remaining stock tightens.
